Life Patterns. Acrylic on canvas. There's a similarity, a metaphor, in the growth of a living object and the patterns of our lives. Tenuous lines branch out this way and that, reaching upward, or they become broken or severed. But even the pruned, dead ends produce twice the life. Growth is not always straight forward but takes a series of twists and wild turns. Life many times reproduces and multiplies when rain and sun are plentiful. We have good seasons with perfect conditions. And there are seasons in which we become dormant. Even though growth is not visible, many times our roots are being strengthened in the worst of times. Metaphorical storms may blow at our branches, leaving us in pieces or may even topple us completely. Each experience good or bad strengthens us while our roots dig deeper. Long life is not promised, but there's beauty in the process.
